Swire Properties: Building Chiller System Cooling Tower Water Reuse

Challenge Overview

HAESL operates a 3,400 MT fresh water-cooled chiller system which consumes 30,000 to 40,000 m3 water annually, which accounts for about 30%-40% of its total water usage. The company is seeking solutions to capture, treat, and reuse this water.

Solutions could include but are not limited to:

  • Reverse osmosis
  • Forward osmosis
  • Membrane filtration and separation systems
  • Multi-stage evaporation
  • Thermal desalination
  • Electrodialysis reversal
  • Water vapor capture
Main Requirements

The solution must treat wastewater to meet requirements of chiller systems in Hong Kong. Ideally, the solution will maximize water recovery and reduce or eliminate the need for other treatment of discharged water.

What we are not interested in

Solutions that cannot remove organic or bacterial contaminants.
